"Birth of the Cool" is an album that collects the twelve sides recorded by the Miles Davis nonet (featuring Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and others) for Capitol Records in 1949 and 1950. The music is considered seminal. This blog is dedicated to that spirit -- keeping things "cool" by blog birthing. If you've got somethin' cool to share, blow on.

Newt’s revisionist history
The next time you are confronted by a right wing Newt supporter who claims that Newt’s ethics violations were the result of a partisan witch-hunt, you can use this article to set matters straight.
Gingrich was fined for what Hillary Clinton did in the Senate. The Senate rules are different than the House rules.
Gingrich is the most accomplished Republican alive. He helped end 40 years of Democrat control of the House and dragged Clinton kicking and screaming to welfare reform and four years of balanced budgets. Imagine for the moment that the Clintons had been successful in passing Hillarycare and the hole it would have blown in the budget.
