"Birth of the Cool" is an album that collects the twelve sides recorded by the Miles Davis nonet (featuring Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and others) for Capitol Records in 1949 and 1950. The music is considered seminal. This blog is dedicated to that spirit -- keeping things "cool" by blog birthing. If you've got somethin' cool to share, blow on.

GOP has become a cult
Of course we all know about the scary and sad state of the Republican party, but this article does a nice job in summarizing the whole sordid state of affairs.
The Founding Fathers must have been cultish also, since they fought for liberty against an intrusive government. How extreme to write a Constitution limiting the Federal Government to powers that were expressly given in that document. How unreasoned are the Tea Party Folk and conservative Republicans who want to restore adherence to the Constitution and limit the excesses that Federal government has imbided under both parties. That is the kind of cult for me and other people who believe we should be a country of laws based on that great document.
