"Birth of the Cool" is an album that collects the twelve sides recorded by the Miles Davis nonet (featuring Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and others) for Capitol Records in 1949 and 1950. The music is considered seminal. This blog is dedicated to that spirit -- keeping things "cool" by blog birthing. If you've got somethin' cool to share, blow on.

A short quote, long on meaning…
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
The umbrage of the left is the belief that bureaucrats and government officials are better qualified to make decisions for individuals rather than the individuals themselves. The left further believes these officials and bureaucrats will effect a better outcome for the individual person as well as for the economy as a whole. History is littered with societies who have tried and failed with this approach.

Great quote Tom. Obviously timely and on target.
