Maher: Cogent, compelling, and very, very funny

I keep wondering why so many people in America act against their own best interest.  They can’t just all be morons.  The phenomenon was brilliantly explored in Thomas Franks great book, “What's the Matter with Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Heart of America” published in 2004.  If you haven’t read it by all means do so if you have the time.

This article by Bill Maher raises the same issue by begging the question: ‘if someone reads this, how can they be opposed to Obama’s tax cuts” and “why do they have any sympathy or tolerence at all for the rich?”  Beats me.

Oh, and it’s quite funny, especially when he starts namin’ names.

Not surprisingly Maher misses the point. It is not that insanely rich folks are screaming for tax breaks, it is that Americans who are out of work in huge numbers need rich guys to hire them. The Obama/Pelosi/Reid government has carried out a war against employment and business. An obvious example of that is the recess to campaign rather than to address the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. Help seems to be on the way. I dream of a veto proof congress. Anything is possible in this cycle.

Tom, you said on a previous post that I should be kind. Where is the kindness of liberals as they inflict havoc on the economy and employment.

Brilliant commentary from Maher! Thanks for posting the link Tom (I did the same with a tip of the hat on my blog).
