"Birth of the Cool" is an album that collects the twelve sides recorded by the Miles Davis nonet (featuring Gerry Mulligan, Lee Konitz and others) for Capitol Records in 1949 and 1950. I was so wrong about who would win the election (electoral votes, not the popular vote), but then I'm certainly not the only one. Welcome to our dystopian reality. Things are not going to be pretty for the foreseeable future, so I'll just leave you with some simple beauty: a photo of one of the blooms on our Bird of Paradise plant that I took on Saturday.
