My old friend Dave Gilson sent me this terrific video of Cab Calloway in a 1932 performance of “Kickin’ the Gong Around." All I can say is that as far as dance moves go, Cab was about 30 years ahead of James Brown. Enjoy – this is a lot of fun.

man, dynamite! I've seen a lot of old Cab filmed performances, including ones like this one made for the old short film jukeboxes in the forties but the sound is so good in this it's kind of amazing, like how did they mic it with his head moving all around etc. It doesn't look synched. A gem, Thank you brother.
