Credit where credit is …

I am getting a big kick out of listening to the right wing trying to torture (I use that term advisedly) the facts into an interpretation of history that gives Bush all the credit for ridding the world of bin Laden.  Of course it’s is hard to get around this:

I had forgotten what a dufus he was…

And then there is the fact that in 2005 Bush completely shut down and disbanded the unit that had been responsible for finding bin Laden.

Of course, this cartoon says it all:

The UBL Kill

There is a report floating around the internet that Obama farmed out the decision making to Panetta. Obama repeatedly delayed giving the order to kill for the better part of a month. He gave Panetta the authority to launch a ground attach, supposedly thinking it would take a long time and if it failed the blame would be on him. Panetta had been preparing the Seal team and was ready to go. He ordered a go without a specific Presidential order with the backing of Hillary and Gates.

If it turns out to be true, I suspect we will hear about it. Hillary is one of the heros in the narrative and she is not one to hide her light under a buschel basket.
